2025 – BIRDS at Ornithology Jazz Club, New York, NY
This exhibition took place at Ornithology Jazz Club in Brooklyn, a venue named after Charlie Parker’s composition and dedicated to live jazz. Shani Nizan created the "Birds" series specifically for this show, drawing inspiration from the study of birds and her connection to the New York jazz scene. The works included a mix of oil crayons, oil pastels, soft pastels, and graphite on paper. The exhibition was born from a spontaneous offer by the club owner after seeing Shani’s bird sketches in a tattoo flashbook. It became a small, focused series that marked a shift in Shani’s creative process, incorporating new materials and experimental approaches.
