About Shani Nizan
Shani Nizan is an Israeli tattoo artist and illustrator based in New York. She is renowned for her unique blend of human and animal forms, which showcases her exceptional illustrative abilities in her tattoo work. Shani gained international success after guesting at some of Europe’s most renowned tattoo shops. Her artistry is also displayed in prestigious New York galleries, such as Philippe Labaune Gallery in Chelsea and Dacia Gallery in the East Village.
She began her career in tattooing after serving as an educational NCO in the Israeli military's 601st Battalion of Combat Engineering, where her pen drawings on her arm gained attention online. In 2017, she trained under tattoo artist Anat Hetzrony.
In 2018, Nizan joined Julia Rehme’s art studio in Berlin and collaborated with various European tattoo studios, including Puro Milano, De l'Art ou Du Cochon in Paris, Through My Third Eye in London, and Dots to Lines.
After two years in Berlin, she relocated to New York City. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she temporarily returned to Israel, where she held a solo exhibition titled "I Didn't Like Jazz" at Beit Haamudim in Tel Aviv in September 2020. In 2021, Nizan founded "Drinking and Drawing NYC" and became a resident artist at Inked NYC, a tattoo studio and gallery in Manhattan.
In 2022, she held a solo exhibition, "Fitting In," in New York City, and followed with "Dogs of New York" in 2024. Nizan is currently a resident artist at Atelier Eva, a tattoo atelier in Brooklyn.
