It started with the decision to be more focused in the tattoo career for a second, to pause the exhibitions and the paintings and the events. I decided that my daily drawing practice would be dedicated to tattoo flash (pre-made tattoo designs) , and I bought a photo album so I can showcase all these drawings. For a while, i took this book everywhere with me , to either show off or keep drawing. ''

One night that I went to Ornithologhy , as usuall (tha'ts our favorite spot in the city) , and as mentioned, the flashbook album was with me - I showed it to a friend, and while he was checking out the bird page , Ornithology's owner, rie, passed by and shared her excitment for the bird drawings. side note: Ornithology means - the study of birds. It was called after a song with the same name, written by Charlie Parker, also known for: "Bird". Rie invited me to create an exhibition around birds and present it at her (and my favorite) jazz club. I asked for an opening date- she said April. It was November.
Thats where my brain wheels didn't make my life easier - I thought that it shouldn't be only bird artworks. Ornithology means "the study of birds"!
From that point, I went DEEP into the studie of birds. I've seen them all! apperntly, there are over 9500 species of birds (to copmarasoon , aroound 6000 species of mammels). I was curious mostly to understand the txomony - they way those are grouped to families and subfamiles. I had a wall! like in the movies! It was imposible to imagine how I would choose only a few species out of thousands, and that made me classicly prospond the actuall drawing and painting part to last minute. If I recall corectly - I only started working on the art less than a month in advance. and there was one piece that i finished on the morning of the opening.
The event was amazing, My husban curated a beautiful quartet to play , and the atmosphere in general was magical. This exhibition reminded me that I can't really give up on all the other things that I do but tattooing, it has to come as a packege.
