About Dogs of New York
Return Policy
In the words of Nizan, "When you walk the streets of New York City, it's easy to feel lonely sometimes, until a dog passes by and looks at you as if they know you well. I usually initiate a small conversation with them until I remember that there is a person attached behind." Shani has ingeniously found a way to express her love and gratitude for the dogs of New York City, spreading joy among dog owners by gifting them with postcards featuring her specially crafted dog illustrations.
The act of giving away postcards in the streets evolved into an art project in itself, providing Nizan with insights into the diverse world of dogs and the people of New York. She delved into the exploration of different dog breeds, various neighborhoods of the city, and observed the vast reactions from dog owners. Notably, the drawing process itself unfolded on the streets of New York, as Shani worked on a large sketchbook she carried with her to coffee shops and parks, creating an intimate synergy between her artistic expression and the ever-changing city.
Nizan's distinctive use of a Bic pen, resembling the needle she employs in her daily work as a tattoo artist, adds a unique touch to her artistry. In her own words, "The Bic fits my character better; I have tons of them, spread everywhere, so it's okay to lose some every once in a while. It's also harder to smudge the strokes with my hand (as used to happen to me with a pencil), and most importantly, you can't take any stroke back—whatever happens, happens."״
